WebMar 27, 2024 · The best power tube is a Jan Sylvania 7C5 with the oval plate. The 7C5 is a 6V6 in an octal socket. I tested about every 6V6 known. The other non JAN spec Sylvania 7C5s have a square corner on the oval plate ends- not good sounding. I also changed the preamp tube to USA built Raytheon 6CG7 with black plates.
