I think it has something to do with the fact that the drives used to be named: ad4, ad6, ad8 ,ad10 and ad12 in freenas 0.7. Is it possible to fix this somehow? WebIf the drive is faulty dd might stop halfway through with an I/O error. That would be a very clear indication of drive failure. This is an easy way to check for drive health and taking the drive as the input file (if=) dd just reads from it, so it does not modify the contents on the drive. It just checks if the drive returns the data at all.
